EL-WO is an Initiative of Hon. Esther Felix, who lost her husband on 20th January 1996 in a road accident. The vision to start a widows fellowship became clear to her on the 17th July 1999 while attending an Advance Leadership Training Seminar (ALTS) of the Full Gospel business Men's fellowship G.R.A Suleja, Niger State, Nigeria. God gave a clear instruction and directive to start a widows fellowship.The fellowship started on 19th September 1999 with 13 widows. It was officially inaugurated on 27th February, 2000 at ECWA Good news church Suleja. After much praying and waiting upon the lord for a name. The lord gave us the EL-SHADDAI WIDOWS OUTREACH…

To provide an enabling Christian forum where widows capacity will be built for them to help themselves.

Widows Economic Advancement Program
Goal: To train widows in viable economic ventures ad make (funds) capital available for investment. Strategy: Skills Training, Loan Disbursement, Promoting of Income Generating activities.
Widows Child Developmentt Programme
Goal: To promote Bible based childcare development initiative where widows take greater responsibilities and providing them with environment wholistic development. Strategy: Child Rearing, Training and Upbringing. Widows Children retreat/rally. widows Child development fund
Widows Care Program
Goal: To raise awareness in churches and in the society on the suffering/neglet widows go through and the associated consequences on the widows and society. Strategy: Counseling, Establishing of a hot line, Visitation Team.
Widows Spiritual Enhancement Programme.
Goal: To sensitize the church to prepare couples through counselling of the reality of death and how to cope with it when (if) it eventually happens. Strategy:Spiritual Training, Bible studies, Prayer Meetings, Formal Theology Training.
Institutional Development Programme.
Goal: To promote sustainability of EL-WO by ensuring adequate funding proper office infrastructure and personnel is put in place. Strategy: Personnel development, Board development and fund development.
Awareness Programme on Widows Needs
Goal: To raise awareness o the challenges of widowhood in the churches and the society. Strategy: Awareness development methodologies, Networking with other NGOs, Churches, CBOs, GOs National and International.
Widows Justice Programme.
Goal: To promote justice for widows to avoid seizure of assets and persecution by relatives and to foster better understanding between widows, their children and the family at large. Strategy: Training on human rights and widows, Partneship with Lawyers and Legal Institutions, Theatre for justice, Will development.
